I would then definitely like to say that taking this course definitely refined and improved my skills in identifying and eliminating hazing. I had absolutely no idea that hazing was so detrimental to our fraternity. Now I and my chapter brothers, as well as accompanying chapters, can help to ensure intake is conducted safely, in a way that builds candidates/pledges’ character while simultaneously reforming them into the men Iota continues to look for.
In college some guys in my fraternity wanted to blind fold guys and have them kneel in front of toilet, put their hand into toilet and squeeze what’s in it. We were going to put banana in toilet and let them think it was something else. Those of us who were upperclassmen decided against it. We did not want to expose our pledges to this degrading behavior even though it would be a joke. I am glad we kept the fraternity going from in a negative direction during initiation.
